400 lb. Blue Marlin, Mako and Mahi-Mahi but the late afternoon-night tuna bite is red hot

We picked up a 400 lb Blue Marlin, released a small Mako plus some Mahi-Mahi on yesterday’s canyon day troll trip fishing a few miles north of where the great late afternoon and night tuna bite is currently happening. One boat we know had nice size 14 size Yellowfins late in the afternoon after the boat traffic thinned out yesterday and they had not even set up for the night chunk bite. It really is some awesome fishing. Some of the best tuna fishing is happening right now with big Eyes well over 200 lbs being caught along with limits of Yellowfins.

It is a great time to do a 24 or 30 hour overnight trips to take advantage of tuna fishing when there is minimal boat traffic and when the tuna bite is the best.

We will be doing a 30 hour over night trip departing tomorrow July 16-17 and will report with pictures how we do. We will post pictures shortly of our battle with the Blue later today. You have to run farther to get to the canyon holding the tuna but overall it is well worth the extra expense and time the tuna fishing is that good. With the speed and comfort of the 55 Hooked Up II it is the perfect boat to make the ride south to where this great tuna fishing is now happening.

We have open dates starting next week and the week for those interested in doing a canyon overnight trip.
