Spent the whole day from 5:00 am to 3:00 pm hammering the pilot whales in the Wilmington on Tuesday with one Yellowfin to show for it. Horrible tuna fishing is the only way I can describe it for us. Some of my friends are now arriving in the local canyons at around 4:00 pm to target big eyes and fishing until about 10:00-11:00 pm and then heading home. Big Eye bite has been excellent from about 6:00 pm to 10:00 or so pm recently in the Wilmington.
I have a bunch of overnight trips coming up and wondering if the night chunk bite is going on in the Washington as there is no night chunk bite in the Baltimore, Spencer or Wilmington to my knowledge. Heard of some very good day time chunking on nice size Yellowfins in the 50-70 lb. class down in the Washington late last week. There a small Yellowfins around but most are small with many not legal size locally. Plan on trying for some large Bluefins inshore in on the way home from our overnight trips on the inshore lumps as we pretty much quit inshore Bluefins since we turned our attention to almost all canyon fishing.

PS: It was glass calm all day on Tuesday in the Wilmington but it rained hard most of the morning. No swell at all as was like a lake and we left the canyon at 3:00 pm.
